Counselling Services

Counselling can support you by offering a confidential, safe and  non-judgemental space to openly talk about your thoughts and feelings. I can work with you to find understanding of your concerns and empower you to take control of your own well-being.

Most counsellors or psychotherapist will have trained in one or more specific approach. I work from or integrate 3 models of approach depending on your concerns as follows:

  • Person-Centred - focuses on your self worth and values, being valued as a person without being judged and can help you accept who you are and reconnect with yourself.

  • CBT- focuses on thoughts, emotions, physical feelings and actions, and teaches you how each one can have an affect on the other. CBT is useful for dealing with a number of issues, including depression, anxiety and phobias.

  • Psychodynamics- seeks to discover how unconscious thoughts affect current behaviour. Psychodynamic usually focuses on your more immediate problems and attempts to provide a quicker solution.

How long can we work with each other?

Everyone is different, how long we work together is entirely up to you.  You always have the choice to continue or stop your sessions. However, I do suggest to work together for 6 sessions to start off with. Working together for 6 sessions will allows us

  • enough time to get used to each other
  • build rapport and develop or working relationship.

After 6 sessions I hold a review with you. This allows us an opportunity to

  • Discuss and reflect together if you think our work is meeting your needs
  • Hear my thoughts on our work together
  • Support you to make a decision to either continue or stop working together.

Transcultural Counselling

Speaking to someone who share similarities like race, culture and religion might be important for you to feel supported, understood and safe.

I have experience of counselling and working with African, Caribbean, Asian, Irish and Mixed Heritage clients.

I appreciate and respect how difference, culture, race, gender, values and beliefs can play a role in how we identify with our selves and others.
